DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMICS

The Economics Department of Hindu College takes pride in being among the best Departments for the study of Economics at the undergraduate level. It comprises a young and dynamic faculty of eight members with diverse specializations and /or interests. For details of courses that will be offered by the Department, please visit www.du.ac.in

The teaching methodology combines standard methods of University education – lectures and tutorials - with written assignments, project work, field trips, and student presentations both in class and in seminars. Students are also encouraged to participate in the corporate and research life of institutions outside college through internships.

The department has an active and vibrant Economics Society that organizes a variety of events to promote students' interest in the subject. These events include the Ranjan Roy Memorial Debate, O.P. Kaushik Memorial Lecture, and the Economics Festival “L'Economiste”. The Society also brings out an annual Economics magazine “Arth” to which faculty members, students, and professionals from related fields contribute articles.

All activities of the Department are aimed at encouraging the students to explore beyond the frontiers of the prescribed syllabus, evaluate economic issues using the skills and tools acquired both inside and outside the classroom, and interact with experts from diverse areas of specialization.
