Dr. Varunendra Singh Rawat

Dr. Varunendra Singh Rawat, joined Hindu college in 2010. He completed his M.Sc., M.phil and Ph.D from the Department of Zoology, University of Delhi. For his doctoral thesis he studied patterns of  gene expression in fishes under the influence of xenoestrogens. He has purified and identified proteins in fish, using mass spectrometric techniques. He has partially sequenced genes in fish and used the information to establish their phylogenetic  relationship using various Bioinformatics tools.  He has published research papers in peer reviewed International Journals. 

He has taught subjects as diverse as, Ecology, Molecular Biology , Cell Biology, Evolution, Animal Behaviour and Genetics to students of B.Sc (H) Zoology and Introduction to Biology to students of B.Sc (H) Chemistry and B.Sc Physical Sciences.

He was one of the four digital literacy champions under the DLITE program (2015) of University of Delhi and Edinburgh College, UK. He attended a workshop in July, 2015 in Edinburgh College, under the DLITE program.

He has contributed to the corporate life of College in various capabilities. He was a member of Central Admission Committee in 2011 and has also been a member of Maintenance and Development Committee and Sports Committee (2014, 2015). Currently, he is the faculty advisor of VIVREthe Photography and Film society of Hindu College. He has been an organizing  member of various workshops and seminars, under the aegis of STAR COLLEGE and Genesis. Presently, he is the representative member from the Department of Zoology, in the Organizing Committee of Workshop under Science Setu.
