विभाग के बारे में:
सांख्यिकी विभाग, हिंदू कॉलेज के सबसे पुराने विभागों में से एक है। दिल्ली विश्वविद्यालय में स्नातक स्तर पर, हिंदू कॉलेज में सांख्यिकी एक प्रतिष्ठित विकल्प है। इसने एक संस्थान के रूप में कॉलेज की वृद्धि और विकास में महत्वपूर्ण योगदान दिया है। एक शैक्षणिक संस्थान का मुख्य उद्देश्य युवा दिमाग को प्रबुद्ध व्यक्तियों में बदलना है।

सोशल नेटवर्किंग, क्लाउड कंप्यूटिंग से लेकर गेमिंग तक, कोई भी क्षेत्र बड़ी मात्रा में संरचित या असंरचित डेटा से अछूता नहीं है। ऐसे डेटा का विश्लेषण करने के लिए वैज्ञानिक दृष्टिकोण अपनाना, जानकारी निकालने की कुंजी है। इस संबंध में, एक विषय के रूप में सांख्यिकी एक प्रमुख भूमिका निभाती है। गूगल सहज खोज, बीमा प्रीमियम, आईपॉड या अन्य संगीत खिलाड़ियों पर "शफ़ल फ़ीचर", क्रिकेट में डकवर्थ/लुईस पद्धति आदि जैसे क्षेत्रों में इसके व्यापक अनुप्रयोग हैं। हमारे छात्रों ने विश्वविद्यालय परीक्षाओं में लगातार अच्छा प्रदर्शन किया है और शीर्ष स्थान हासिल किए हैं। उन्हें उच्च शिक्षा के लिए भारत के शीर्ष विश्वविद्यालयों/संस्थानों और विदेशों के विश्वविद्यालयों में प्रवेश मिल रहा है। विभाग के पूर्व छात्रों ने सिविल सेवा, रक्षा सेवा, प्रबंधन जैसे विभिन्न व्यावसायिक क्षेत्रों में अपनी जगह बनाई है।

विभाग, सभी सदस्यों को समावेशिता के साथ संपूर्ण विकास के लिए अनुकूल वातावरण प्रदान करता है और विरासत को जीवित और समृद्ध बनाए रखने के लिए तत्पर है। विभाग के पास एक जीवंत समाज है, जो अपने वार्षिक समारोह 'कर्टोसिस' का आयोजन करता है। महोत्सव में अकादमिक व्याख्यान, प्रश्नोत्तरी, वाद-विवाद आदि की श्रृंखला शामिल है।

अत्यधिक निपुण और प्रतिबद्ध संकाय, नवाचारों के लिए जीवंत वातावरण और छात्रों के उत्कृष्ट प्रदर्शन रिकॉर्ड का दावा करते हुए, विभाग 10+2 स्ट्रीम के सबसे प्रतिभाशाली छात्रों को आमंत्रित करता है। संकाय सांख्यिकी के विभिन्न शैक्षणिक क्षेत्रों जैसे अनुमान, स्टोकेस्टिक मॉडलिंग, भविष्यवाणी सिद्धांत, बायोस्टैटिस्टिक्स आदि में विशेषज्ञता रखता है। नियमित शिक्षण के अलावा, संकाय सदस्य अनुसंधान परियोजनाओं और पुस्तकों के प्रकाशन में भी शामिल हैं।

About The Department:

The Department of Statistics is one of the oldest Departments of Hindu College. At undergraduate level in Delhi University, Statistics at Hindu College is a coveted choice. It has made significant contributions to the growth and the development of the College as an Institution. The principal aim of an educational institution is to transform young minds into enlightened individuals.

From social networking to cloud computing to gaming, there is no field untouched by large amounts of data – structured or unstructured. Adopting a scientific approach for analyzing such data is the key to extraction of information. In this regard, Statistics as a subject plays a predominant role. It has wide ranging applications in areas such as the Google Intuitive Search, insurance premiums, “Shuffle Feature” on the iPods or other music players, Duckworth/Lewis Method in cricket etc. Our students have consistently performed well in the University examinations securing top positions. They have been getting admissions for higher education, in top most universities/Institutions, in India and universities abroad. The alumni of the department have carved their niche in various professional areas like Civil Services, Defence Services, management, R & D's etc.

The department provides a conducive environment for wholesome growth with inclusivity to all members and looks forward to keeping the legacy alive and thriving. The Department has a vibrant society, which organizes its annual function ‘KURTOSIS’. The festival includes a series of academic lectures, quizzing, debating etc.

Boasting of a highly accomplished and committed faculty, vibrant environment for innovations and excellent performance record of the students, the Department attracts the brightest of students from 10+2 stream. The faculty specializes in various academic fields of Statistics like Inference, Stochastic Modeling, Prediction Theory, Biostatistics, etc. Besides regular teaching, the faculty members are also involved in research projects and publishing books.
