Dr. Sunil Joshi

Dr. Sunil Joshi is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sanskrit at Hindu College, University of Delhi. A proud alumnus of the same institution, he completed both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Sanskrit from Hindu College, followed by a Ph.D. from the University of Delhi. His doctoral research, titled “Uttarapāṇinīya Vyākaraṇasampradāyoṁ meṁ Nāmadhātu – Eka Samīkṣātmak Adhyayana”, reflects his deep engagement with Sanskrit grammar and its interpretative traditions.
 
Dr. Joshi brings academic versatility to the classroom, teaching a wide range of subjects including Pāṇinian grammar, Classical Sanskrit literature (poetry, prose, and drama), Sanskrit world literature, Ramayana and Mahabharata in Southeast Asia, Upanishads and Gita, Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS), fundamentals of Āyurveda, manuscriptology, and research methodology. His keen interest in integrating traditional knowledge systems with modern academic frameworks makes his teaching both rich and contemporary. He has presented scholarly research papers, participated in various national-level workshops.
 
Dr. Joshi has also played an active role in college activities and academic innovation. He served as the Coordinator of the International Yoga Day (IDY) celebrations at Hindu College for three consecutive years (2022, 2023, and 2024), promoting the interdisciplinary relevance of Sanskrit and yoga. He also serves as the Coordinator in the Office of Alumni Relations (OAR) at the college and is the Staff Advisor for the college society SPIC MACAY (The Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth).
 
Additionally, he was the Co-coordinator for the add-on course ‘Media Lekhan’ and currently serves as the Convenor of the Add-on Course titled ‘Introduction to Media and Communications.’
 
Dedicated to the holistic development of students, Dr. Joshi is known for his scholarly rigour, commitment to pedagogy, and passion for Sanskrit as a living and evolving tradition.
