Dr. Charu Kumar

Dr. Charu Kumar is an Associate Professor, teaching organic chemistry in the Department of Chemistry, Hindu College, University of Delhi.
She was awarded her Doctorate of Philosophy from Delhi University in 1989.After working as Research Associate in a DST project in the Department of Chemistry, Delhi University, she joined Hindu college as lecturer in 1991.
Her research has been in the field of Synthetic Organic Chemistry and her work includes synthesis, purification and identification of novel heterocyclic compounds and testing of their antifungal and anti bacterial properties. Her papers have been published in various International and Indian journals.
Dr Charu has also taught at the National University of Singapore for two years. There she was also rewarded with the Outstanding Teaching Award in 2005-06 on receiving highest rating and appreciation from students. She has also been felicitated by “”Shiksha Rattan Puraskar” by India International Friendship Society in 2011 in a seminar on” Role of Education in modern India”.
Dr Charu has been actively involved in various committees in department and college and has worked in innovation project entitled “Pharmacognostical Studies on Salaginella sp. and Evaluation of its Antimicrobial Properties”.
