Vivre- The Film and Photographic Society

About the Society

Founded in 2010, Vivre has become a vibrant and dynamic community within the college, dedicated to the art of capturing moments and telling stories through visual imagery. The name "Vivre" itself encapsulates the spirit and purpose of the society, reflecting its mission to embrace life's vividness and explore the world through the lens of a camera.

Derived from the French word for "to live," Vivre represents the society's philosophy of embracing life's fleeting moments and immortalizing them through the power of photography and filmmaking. It symbolizes a commitment to capturing the essence of life, celebrating the beauty and diversity of the world, and expressing individual perspectives through the art of visual storytelling.

At the core of Vivre lies its aim to cultivate a community for young individuals who share a deep passion for visual arts. By bringing together like-minded photographers and filmmakers, the society aims to create an environment that fosters creativity, learning, and personal growth. Members of Vivre are united by their unwavering love for photography and filmmaking, and Vivre provides them with a platform to further develop their skills while interacting with others who share similar interests.

The society recognizes the transformative power of photography and filmmaking as mediums of self-expression and communication. Through workshops, discussions, and collaborative projects, Vivre strives to empower its members to harness the potential of visual arts, enabling them to communicate ideas, evoke emotions, and create meaningful connections with their audience.

Vivre prides itself on its diverse and talented membership. Students from various disciplines and backgrounds come together, enriching the society with their unique perspectives and creative visions. The society strongly believes that diversity fuels creativity, and it encourages members to explore new techniques, genres, and styles, pushing the boundaries of their artistic capabilities.

Throughout the academic year, Vivre organizes a range of activities and events to engage its members and the wider college community. These include photography and filmmaking competitions, exhibitions, guest lectures by renowned photographers and filmmakers, field trips to picturesque locations, and collaborative projects with other societies and organizations. These initiatives not only provide opportunities for skill development but also create a supportive network where members can learn from each other, exchange ideas, and gain valuable feedback.

Vivre understands the importance of fostering a positive and inclusive environment. It encourages an open-minded and respectful atmosphere where individuals can freely express

themselves and their unique perspectives. The society actively promotes the belief that every member has something valuable to contribute, regardless of their level of expertise or equipment.

In conclusion, Vivre is a thriving community within the college that brings together young individuals with a shared passion for visual arts. Through its dedication to capturing the essence of life and providing a platform for personal growth and creativity, Vivre empowers its members to embrace the power of photography and filmmaking. By fostering a diverse and inclusive environment, the society aims to inspire, educate, and support its members in their artistic journeys, enabling them to explore the world through their unique lenses and tell captivating stories through their images and films.

Photowalk at Humayun’s Tomb

A huge part of Vivre has always been to revisit our history through the lens of our cameras, by constantly visiting and exploring our heritage sites which connect us to our past. In order to fulfill that target again, team Vivre walked together with cameras to one of Delhi’s most iconic heritage locations – Humayun’s Tomb.

On the bright sunny morning of 14th of July, 2022, Vivre members, also accompanied by many alumni members, assembled at the entrance to Humayun’s Tomb. The goal was not only to capture the architecture of the medieval tomb, but also to feel the essence of our history that the red stones and elaborate maps of Humayun’s tomb carries with it. With no creative limitations, the society members tried their hands on various aspects of location photography. At the same time, it also proved to be a learning experience outside the boundaries of photography as well. This photo walk wasn’t only a peek through our lenses, but also a peek through our history and the city’s rich architecture.

Collaboration with Sarvahitey - an NGO

Since its inception, Vivre has not only put its focus on film and photography, but has also been constantly pushing its boundaries and exploring all the possible ways in which it can bring a positive change to society. Representing this very same philosophy, on 28th September, 2022, Vivre in association with Sarvahitey, a Delhi-NCR based NGO, embarked on a journey to capture the learning process of underprivileged students in Gurugram. It was a one-day coordinated photo walk, where several Vivre members volunteered to help Sarvahitey execute an extensive media project for the organisation to improve their reach and social impact.

On the sunny day, Vivre members walked halfway from the metro station to reach the underprivileged students residing in a chawl inaccessible by road or any kind of vehicles. There, 50+ excited students gave a warm welcome to team Vivre with their bright smiles. Team Vivre decided not to disturb all the students with their learning processes and chose to move into corners and silently capture the moments. Soon, the enthusiastic students who eagerly wanted to showcase their knowledge and talent, were thrilled to show and discuss everything they learnt – from Mathematics to English and Science.

To encourage the students further, our members chose to get involved in the learning process of the students and shared whatever they had at their disposal. We discussed various aspects of the learning process and shared details about our childhood regarding the process of learning, in order to make the students relate. The underprivileged students had a lot of fun along with the Vivre members, which included songs, poetry, drawing and some beautiful pieces of pictures taken together. A simple photography session was turned into an exciting and enriching learning experience for all the parties.

Orientation for the Batch of 2025/26

Vivre organized a society orientation on November 11, 2022. The objective of the orientation was to acquaint students with the workings and benefits of the society while providing a fundamental channel of communication between prospective members and the current council. Students of all batches were encouraged to be a part of the orientation and learn more about the society and its members. To help the pupils better understand the structure and operation of the society, a PowerPoint presentation was shown to them.
